Every locality has unique food types, tastes, and recipes that may or may not be available in other places. If you visit a tourist spot, taste the food that belongs to the place that explicit the cultural regional values.

This life is born to taste different foods and live happily. The various food types that explicit the value of Ouray. Especially Ouray is a mountain area, their cooking style and food taste must be differ from city foods. Ouray food restaurant prepares regional foods to serve tourists.

Different types of local food that need to taste in Ouray:

Meats:

Meats are available in the city also, the meat varieties people used to eat in the town are mutton, chicken, beef, etc. The Meat they used to cook is Meat of Elk, Bison, and venison. They hunt the animals from wildlife areas to cook.

They cook these meats because Ouray is present in the mountains, and these are readily available food for them.

Rocky Mountain Oysters: A definite must try dish

This is the heritage food, which reflects the western delicacy. These foods often found in every restaurant. Deep fried bull testicles which is local special snack called the Rocky mountain Oyster. It must be new to many peoples. After hearing the name, people think it is oyster to eat but cooking bull testicles is not common.

Trout:

Trout means the freshwater fish usually caught from streams and rivers. It will be prepared as a snack for adventure people.

The fish captured in the river and cooked instantly, so it is very healthy, clean, and fresh to eat. Trout are a fit as the best snack for the Jeep adventure people.

In Ouray food Restaurants, trouts are offered as a snack, and smoked trout is placed in the seasonal menu.

Local Jerkys:

The bull, elk, bison, etc, these meats are available in every place. These can only be found in mountains and some areas near mountains. So, tasting this must be life lifetime chance.

The jerky made from these meats is prepared in small batches to take as trail snacks, like trout. The hikers, climbers, adventure people can’t carry more objects and cooking essentials with them, so the snacks made from these meats are easy to carry and give strength to the person. Even the restaurants in the local area also offer this kind of snack.
